Basic Facts of Islam:
Origins of Islam
Islam originated in the early 7th century in the Arabian Peninsula (Hijaz region). Most of Arabia at this time were polytheistic (Pagans), which made it hard to preach for a monotheist. However, the Prophet Muhammad continued to preach, who directly received revelations from God through the Quran.
Main Belief of Islam
Prophet Muhammad taught the main emphasis of monotheism; the worship of one God as opposed to Polytheism. Islam teaches its followers to give to charity, feed the poor, pray the 5 daily prayers, make pilgrimages to Mecca, and to believe in all the prophets (Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Solomon, etc)
Quote from the Prophet
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ï·º) said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is! You will not enter Jannah (Heaven) until you believe, and you shall not believe until you love one another. May I inform you of something, if you do, you love each other. Promote greeting amongst you (As-salamu 'alaikum)".
Quote from the Quran:
"We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac - one God. And we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."
(Quran 2:133)
